This painting was inspired from a friendship with a girl who was going through the struggles and losses that a battle with breast cancer brings. I was at her home helping clean while she was in the hospital having surgery. The image burned into my mind as I worked. I could hardly stand not being able to start it immediately. The parallels were so defined. She, like the wildflowers seen here, is fragile and beautiful. They both face a mountain they must find their way through. Both of them with quiet determination, are doing just that with an amazing tenacity. Both are huge inspirations to me.
